INT networking add-on to ZigBee specification provides unmatched network scalability using low cost wireless routers designed for mass production. Energy measurements data flows to database on periodic basis. This solution is based on 2.4 GHz ISM wireless channels – worldwide unlicensed frequency bands.

Most important advantage of INT solutions – low installation and maintenance costs. It is reached by means of self-construction and healing networking mechanisms.

INT AMR solution comprises the following

• Utility energy meters installed in the apartments
• Networking and autonomous nodes, connected to meters (water, gas, electric power) through the pulse or serial communication ports
• ZigBee-LAN Bridge, for wire and wireless networks integration
• AMR Server “Beehive”, data acquisition center, storing valid incoming data in the database
• AMR “Beehive” Monitor a PC software to analyze and calculate the necessary information from AMR Server database for further billing software

The picture below shows the example of possible AMR installation in an apartment house.

All system components start networking just after the installation of the creating wireless “cloud” for data transfer from network nodes to AMR Server. In normal operating conditions all the devices of a wireless part of the system regularly send the acquired data to the Server. Sending time interval depends on device configuration and in case of autonomous nodes, it is associated with battery working time (autonomous nodes are able to work without external power supply up to 5 years!). Getting to the Server, metering data become available for external systems through web-services and MySQL database. AMR system stores information about all nodes that are supposed to be in the network. Using that information the Server runs validation procedures with the incoming data, ensuring the system protection from false data provision.

Besides, INT wireless mesh ZigBee network can be used in some more integrated solutions such as security systems. Such functional expansion can be realized even after the base AMR solution is installed in the building – security network nodes will use AMR wireless “cloud” as the data transfer network (if additional security restrictions are not applied in “Beehive” net).
